River Point Community Church began as a men's prayer group in early 2001 by a group of prayer warriors who began to hear God's calling to a new work in Habersham County. The picture became clearer through a myriad of Godly workings that their calling was to begin a fresh ministry that would reach out to all people and make Jesus real and tangible to them.
In January of 2001, the prayer group and their families began meeting to pray and seek the next step. Exactly 40 days later, 10 families assembled at a hotel conference room to worship for the first time together. Each week the people increased as well as the passion for His presence. The vision of what would soon become River Point Community Church became even clearer.
On February 3, 2002 the first official worship service took place at the Tallulah Falls Chapel. In March of that year the official name of River Point Community Church was adopted under the covering of Mosaic Ministries and the mission statement was first introduced.
In June, the growth of River Point necessitated a new meeting facility and the Aquatic Center was the answer to prayer for a much larger space. This facility witnessed the growth of a body believers who "did church" in a different way. Community Groups were established and the focus on missions was seen as the first missionaries were sent out. The aquatic center facility was only a temporary fix to the growing pains of an ever expanding church body and in October of 2002, the Woods Furniture building in downtown Cornelia was purchased. The building affectionately became known as the "River In The Woods" and after 8 months of hard labor, the remodel of the building into what is our current worship center was complete in June of 2003.
The Journey of Faith has begun and we eagerly await the future as the Lord directs the current of the river.
